Sacred Space Partnership Group Print E-mail
The RE Council has agreed in principle that there should now be set up a Sacred Space Partnership Group (SSPG), as a sub-committee of the REC Board, to promote learning outside the classroom in sacred space. We now invite expressions of interest from individuals who will work within the following framework:

1. The sub-committee/ sector partnership group’s key roles would be:

a. Communications
b. Advocacy
c. Development of sector, including take-up of the quality badge

2. Members of the SSPG would act as ‘champions’ for the Sacred Space sector

3. A member of the SSPG will sit on the National Advisory Group for LOtC (three meetings a year)

4. The SSPG will consist of:

a. Two members of the REC Board (a constitutional requirement)
b. A representative of the Pilgrims’ Association
c. Trainers for the quality badge for LOtC from the Sacred Space sector
d. Representative(s) from the professional organisations on the REC
e. Representative(s) from the faith community organisations on the REC

5. The sub-committee will be representative of the interests and breadth of the REC’s member organisations and other promoters of LOtC in Sacred Space

6. There is funding from the current budget to cover the basic costs for the setting up of the SSPG; thereafter funding will come from a bid to the LOtC Council

7. The sector partnership will develop priorities for action, including writing a bid to the Board of the LOtC Council for funding to develop the sector and its work (Development Plan 2009-2011)

Please send your name or your nominee’s name, along with a brief statement outlining your interest and/or experience in this area. Expressions of interest should reach me by 18 May 2009 after which the REC officers will select the most appropriate combination of people to join the SSPG.

Please feel free to send this on to interested parties. Thank you for your interest and support.
