Secondment/Consultancy – The REsilience Project

The RE Council of England and Wales has successfully bid for funding from the DCSF to develop a training programme for religious education teachers on community cohesion and preventing violent extremism. This is known as the REsilience project and further details can be found on the REC website.

This project is scheduled to last for until 31 March 2011 and will be managed by the REC in conjunction with Penzer Allen Ltd.

An Executive Delivery Group (EDG), chaired by Joyce Miller, will take responsibility for the successful completion of the whole project, on behalf of the Board of the REC.  An Advisory Group, with its members drawn from a wide range of organizations and chaired by Brian Gates, will offer expert advice and will provides links to stakeholders.  A small Project Team, reporting to the EDG, will take responsibility for designing, preparing, delivering and evaluating the CPD programme and will engage a wide range of individuals and organizations to do that work.

The REsilience project requires a support officer, reporting to the project manager, Geoffrey Penzer, to play a pivotal role in delivering its work.

REsilience Support

The EDG therefore invites expressions of interest for REsilience support work.  It is expected that the person appointed will work approximately 75 days over the 9 months for the period up to 31 March 2010.  The contract may, by mutual agreement, be extended for a further year to 31 March 2011

The person appointed will be an experienced and highly qualified RE professional who will take a leading role in the  REsilience project, support the project team, take responsibility for the preparation of relevant documentation and assist in the management of contracts (such as materials preparation and CPD delivery). The work will suit a self-employed consultant with their own registered business, or a secondment, or a company which will provide the service.

Remuneration will be subject to negotiation, depending on how many days and weeks are worked and of the order of £20,000 (plus VAT if charged) for the period to 31 March 2010.

An application letter of no more than one side of A4 and a brief CV should be sent to the Council’s Administrator, Erika Baranyi,  at by noon  on Friday 3 July.
