REEP is founded on the conviction that concern for nature is essential to religion and that religious awareness has a vital contribution to make to respect for nature.
The REEP Awards are a practical way of putting this into action. The Awards, which are made every two years, are for school garden designs reflecting spiritual and community values. Curriculum support materials, from which all schools can benefit, are an essential part of the awards.
REEP has also developed a range of tailor-made web materials designed by experienced educators with expertise in their chosen field. They provide teachers and schools with relevant information and teaching materials and offer ideas for practical classroom activities within the framework of the National Curriculum at all Key Stages, helping pupils to:
- EXPERIENCE the world around them
- EXPLORE the relevance of traditional religious teachings about the world
- REFLECT upon these in order to develop and articulate their own beliefs and values concerning the environment and their place within it
- and then find ways to take practical ACTION based upon their own beliefs and values.
REEP materials are designed to meet a wide range of needs in schools, especially in the areas of:
- Religious education
- Moral and spiritual development
- The school development plan
- Assemblies
- Personal and social education
- Development of school grounds
- Environmental education
- Development education
- Global and multicultural education
All materials are freely accessible and regularly increased and updated.
