Five of the REC member organisations make up the Professional RE Group (PREG). Together they cover different Subject Association constituencies:

  • NATRE National Association of Teachers of RE - the subject association for RE teachers, a partner organisation with RE Today Services
  • AULRE Association of University Lecturers in Religion and Education - linking academics across higher education engaged in ITT, CPD and research in all aspects of RE
  • AREIAC Association of RE Inspectors, Advisers and Consultants - supporting local authority, diocesan and independent advisers for RE
  • NASACRE National Association of Standing Advisory Councils on Religious Education - supporting SACREs in each Local Authority throughout the country
  • SHAP Shap Working Party on World Religions in Education - for authoritative information and advice relating to religion globally

The chairs of each of these organisations, together with the chair of the REC, meet three or four times a year, to share matters of common concern and agree conjoint initiatives, as appropriate.
