The RE and Community Cohesion project involved identifying and coordinating about
a dozen Greater London RE teachers who are already developing the role
of RE in community cohesion. Each teacher was asked to develop examples
of best practice from within their teaching which could then be used as
exemplars for national dissemination via the community cohesion website.
Religious education has a prominent role to play in the promotion of commuity cohesion within schools and their communities. This section of the website sets out to articulate the relationship between RE and community cohesion and to exemplify good practice. Member organisations are invited to contibute examples of their work in this field. Please email them to:
RE Council Statement The REC Board at its November meeting in 2009 agreed a statement setting out the relationship between community cohesion and religious education. This stands as a 'think-piece', presenting the general view of the Council, and is now made publically available to support teachers, school managers and others as they aim to promote community cohesion.
The RE Council is a non-governmental organisation which relies on donations and grants from other organisations and individuals. You can donate money by sending a cheque to our office, or by securely transferring money via PayPal to info@recouncil.org.uk.
